Because diamonds are so valuable, itís essential to have a universal grading system for comparing their quality. In the 1940s and í50s, GIA developed the 4Cs and the GIA International Diamond Grading Systemô to objectively compare and evaluate diamonds.
GIA (Gemological Institute of America) is the gold standard in our industry. Wellington & Company carries a selection of GIA White and Fancy Colored Diamonds at all times. We also provide AGS (American Gem Society) and EGL (European Gemological Laboratories) graded diamonds as well.
When buying a diamond always remember that there are four key factors that determine the value of a Diamond. These factors are collectively known as the four Cís. Carat,Cut, Color,Clarity.
The combination and variables of these factors drive both the value of the diamond and more importantly - they determine the brilliance of the stone.
There is a direct correlation between the precision of the diamonds clarity, color, cut and the carat.
